Factors affecting immunotherapy cost in Bangalore:

The immunotherapy cost in the top hospitals in Bangalore for cancer can be different for different patients. The following factors play a major role in deciding the cost of immunotherapy:

  • Metastasis of cancer: A crucial factor in deciding the immunotherapy cost in Bangalore is how far cancer has spread and what parts are affected by cancer. If cancer has not affected more body organs, then the cost of immunotherapy will be relatively lower.

  • Type of cancer: Immunotherapy is not the treatment option for all types of cancer. The cost of immunotherapy is different for different types of cancer. Depending on the type of cancer a patient has, immunotherapy type and drugs will be decided, thus affecting the cost of immunotherapy in Bangalore.

  • Health of the patient: Basically, immunotherapy is a treatment where your immune cells are treated so that they are made capable of fighting cancer. So, your actual health also plays a major role in deciding the cost of immunotherapy.

  • Duration of the treatment: The duration of the treatment is another important factor in deciding the cost of immunotherapy in Bangalore. It is dependent on the number of sessions you require. The duration is decided based on the following factors, mainly type, and grade of cancer.

  • Treatment plan: At times, you are not given immunotherapy alone. You may have undergone chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery initially, followed by immunotherapy, thereby increasing the total cost of the treatment.

  • Types of the drugs used: In immunotherapy, there are different types of drugs whose costs are also different. The doctor will decide the drugs which will be used for the treatment, and accordingly, it will affect the cost of immunotherapy.

What is included in the cost of Immunotherapy

The cost of immunotherapy includes several components, which varies depending on the specific type of immunotherapy and the medical facility where the treatment is administered. Here are some elements that contribute to the cost:

Drug Cost: This includes the cost of the immunotherapy drugs themselves. Immunotherapy drugs are often biologic agents, which can be more expensive than traditional medications.

Treatment Administration: Immunotherapy is typically given through injections, infusions, or oral medications. The cost may include the actual administration of the treatment, which can involve healthcare professionals, equipment, and monitoring.

Medical Consultations: Immunotherapy often requires regular visits to the healthcare provider for monitoring and evaluation. The cost may include fees for consultations, examinations, and follow-up appointments.

Diagnostic Tests: Prior to starting immunotherapy, diagnostic tests such as blood work, imaging, or biopsies may be necessary to determine eligibility and monitor treatment effectiveness. The cost of these tests may be included in the overall immunotherapy cost.

Facility Fees: Immunotherapy is usually administered in a medical facility, such as a hospital or specialized clinic. The cost may include facility fees, which cover the use of the treatment space, equipment, and associated overhead expenses.

Supportive Medications and Services: Immunotherapy may require additional medications to manage side effects or support the treatment. These medications and related services, such as nursing care or symptom management, can contribute to the overall cost.

Other Details

You might be wondering why immunotherapy for cancer in Bangalore is less as compared with other developed nations. Let's take a look why.

Let us tell you why there is such a wide difference in the cost between the countries:

  • Living cost: The living cost in Bangalore is almost 65% lower than the other developed countries. Therefore, you can get all the facilities at a very low cost.

  • Competition: Well, Bangalore is a place where you have abundant choices of hospitals. All these hospitals offer a variety of medical treatments. So, therefore you can choose at your convenience from a wide range of cancer hospitals in Bangalore than other cancer hospitals in the world.

Success Rate of Immunotherapy in Bangalore

The success rate of immunotherapy in Bangalore has seen a tremendous increase. The five-year survival rate of immunotherapy has increased from 5.5% in 2012 to 28 % in 2019. While other cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, etc., cannot give this high survival rate at stage IV cancer, immunotherapy becomes one of the leading choices to get better results. Immunotherapy has successfully treated 15 types of cancers, including skin, lung, kidney, and bladder cancers, and the number is expanding.

In an article by The Hindu, Dr. Shripad Banavali, head of academics and professor of pediatric and medical oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, said that immunotherapy is the most promising area in cancer right now.

Keeley Mums cancer has spread too far and has been deemed too aggressive for surgery. It started off in the breast and has spread to her brain, throat, lungs, liver and now also into her lymph nodes... She has been referred to oncology, who will look at her case and decide whether she is a fit for chemotherapy, and once they meet her they will decide if she is strong enough to go through it. IF mum is able to have the chemo, she will either be given a course of tablets to take, I believe they are one tablet a week. Or she will be given chemo via an IV and will have to go to once every three weeks for a few hours. If mum decides not to have chemo she will be referred to palliative care

Female | 67

If breast cancer advances to the brain, throat, lungs, liver, and lymph nodes, it is advanced cancer. Breast Cancer naturally develops in the cells of the human breast. But when cancer cells are balooned in size, it is called breast tumor. Chemotherapy treatment is regarded as one of the most popular therapies for advanced Breast Cancer. Chemotherapy can be done as an outpatient procedure if your mom can physically handle the treatment..

Can u cure the 1st stage of cancer

Male | 40

When we talk about cancer, early detection is the key. The 1st stage signifies that the tumors are still small and have not developed into metastasis yet. Symptoms may not be obvious, but you might notice some unusual body changes. Causes may differ, but always it is not clear why they emerge. The main solution for 1st-stage cancer is to remove or destroy the abnormal cells through treatments like surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy. The end goal of these therapies is to eliminate cancer and prevent its recurrence. Timely diagnosis and treatment are the factors controlling successful acute leukemia treatment in the first stage.
