Factors affecting immunotherapy cost in Chennai:

The immunotherapy cost in the top hospitals in Chennai for cancer can be different for different patients. The following factors play a major role in deciding the cost of immunotherapy:

  • Metastasis of cancer: A crucial factor in deciding the immunotherapy cost in Chennai is how far cancer has spread and what parts are affected by cancer. If cancer has not affected more body organs, then the cost of immunotherapy will be relatively lower.

  • Type of cancer: Immunotherapy is not the treatment option for all types of cancer. The cost of immunotherapy is different for different types of cancer. Depending on the type of cancer a patient has, immunotherapy type and drugs will be decided, thus affecting the cost of immunotherapy in Chennai.

  • Health of the patient: Basically, immunotherapy is a treatment where your immune cells are treated so that they are made capable of fighting cancer. So, your actual health also plays a major role in deciding the cost of immunotherapy.

  • Duration of the treatment: The duration of the treatment is another important factor in deciding the cost of immunotherapy in Chennai. It is dependent on the number of sessions you require. The duration is decided based on the following factors, mainly type, and grade of cancer.

  • Treatment plan: At times, you are not given immunotherapy alone. You may have undergone chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery initially, followed by immunotherapy, thereby increasing the total cost of the treatment.

  • Types of the drugs used: In immunotherapy, there are different types of drugs whose costs are also different. The doctor will decide the drugs which will be used for the treatment, and accordingly, it will affect the cost of immunotherapy.

What is included in the cost of Immunotherapy

The cost of immunotherapy includes several components, which varies depending on the specific type of immunotherapy and the medical facility where the treatment is administered. Here are some elements that contribute to the cost:

Drug Cost: This includes the cost of the immunotherapy drugs themselves. Immunotherapy drugs are often biologic agents, which can be more expensive than traditional medications.

Treatment Administration: Immunotherapy is typically given through injections, infusions, or oral medications. The cost may include the actual administration of the treatment, which can involve healthcare professionals, equipment, and monitoring.

Medical Consultations: Immunotherapy often requires regular visits to the healthcare provider for monitoring and evaluation. The cost may include fees for consultations, examinations, and follow-up appointments.

Diagnostic Tests: Prior to starting immunotherapy, diagnostic tests such as blood work, imaging, or biopsies may be necessary to determine eligibility and monitor treatment effectiveness. The cost of these tests may be included in the overall immunotherapy cost.

Facility Fees: Immunotherapy is usually administered in a medical facility, such as a hospital or specialized clinic. The cost may include facility fees, which cover the use of the treatment space, equipment, and associated overhead expenses.

Supportive Medications and Services: Immunotherapy may require additional medications to manage side effects or support the treatment. These medications and related services, such as nursing care or symptom management, can contribute to the overall cost.

  • Living cost: The living cost in Chennai is almost 65% lower than the other developed countries. Therefore, you can get all the facilities at a very low cost.

  • Competition: Well, Chennai is a place where you have abundant choices of hospitals. All these hospitals offer a variety of medical treatments. So, therefore you can choose at your convenience from a wide range of cancer hospitals in Chennai in India rather than other cancer hospitals in the world.

Hello, I want to know if breasts are removed in Breast Cancer surgeries, or are there any other methods in which there is no need of removing the whole breasts?

Female | 46

The biology and behavior of breast cancer will be considered for planning the treatment of breast cancer. Treatment options also depends on several factors like the tumor subtype, hormone receptor status, stage of the tumor, patient's age, general health, menopausal status, and preferences. The presence of known mutations in inherited breast cancer genes, such as BRCA1 or BRCA2. There are some general steps commonly preferred for treating early-stage and locally advanced breast cancer. Doctors generally recommend surgery to remove the tumor in breast. Though the goal of surgery is to remove all the cancer which is visible but microscopic cells sometimes remain behind. Therefore another surgery may be required. For cancers which are large or are rapidly growing, the clinician suggest systemic treatment with chemotherapy or hormonal therapy before surgery. This is called neo-adjuvant therapy. This helps in shrinking the tumor which is easy to operate; also breast can be preserved in some cases. After surgery it is important to check for recurrence. Then adjuvant therapy is advised. Adjuvant therapies may include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and/or hormonal therapy When surgery to remove the cancer is not possible, it is called inoperable, and then Chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation therapy, and/or hormonal therapy may be given to shrink the cancer. For recurrent cancer, treatment options depend on how the cancer was first treated and the characteristics of the cancer. What will be the line of treatment in your case will depend on your clinical condition. You can take one more opinion to a clear understanding of your concerns. Consult Cancer Treatment doctors in Mumbai, or any other city you find convenient.

PET-CT scan impression report shows. 1. Hypermetabolic spiculated mass in lower lobe of right lung. 2. Hypermetabolic right hilar and sub carinal lymph nodes. 3. Hypermetabolic nodule in left adrenal gland and hypodense lesion in left kidney 4. hypermetabolic multiple lytic sclerotic lesions in axial & appendicular skeleton. Lesion in proximal end of femur is susceptible for pathological fracture. which stage the cancer might be in.? How far the cancer has spread?

Male | 40

The findings from this PET-CT scan suggest the presence of multiple hypermetabolic (actively metabolizing) lesions in various parts of the body. This pattern of findings raises concerns about the possibility of metastatic cancer, meaning that cancer may have spread from its original site to other areas of the body. The exact stage and extent of cancer would require further evaluation by an oncologist from the best cancer hospital in India, including additional tests and imaging.

First, a biopsy should be performed in order to confirm the diagnosis of thymoma. When the diagnosis is made, it should be surgically removed. See a thoracic surgeon to have correct diagnosis and management.
